Early Years Centre Introduction

The New Germany Elementary School Early Years Centre is made up of an Early Years Program for children four years old, a Family Resources Room and  a licensed daycare program.

Four year old children in the Early Years Program at  New Germany Elementary School  will be a part of a program that will promote play which puts them in charge of their learning much like the Reggio Emilia Emergent Curriculum approach. They will be building on and creating new knowledge through exploration and discovery of the world around them using many materials and guided by their interests. Our goal will be to develop the skills and qualities of the whole child and prepare them to walk through life with their heads held high.
Educators will possess Early Childhood Educator qualifications to insure expertise in care for the child. We will strive to build strong positive relationships between home, school and the community and create a positive learning and living space for  everyone involved.

The Family Resources Room will provide services to families in the community that will be highly accessible by having them in a familiar setting. We will have a schedule of events, services and workshops based on the needs of the community. We will provide a wide range of new programs and services to our families and community member as well as pre-existing programs such as the Parenting Journey and play group offered through the Better Together Family Resource Centre.

The Early Years Centre will also host a licensed childcare centre for children 18-36 months. This centre will be a satellite site of a pre-existing childcare centre that is still to be determined.

Our goal for the Early Years Centre will be for it to become a community meeting space where families can come in and feel welcomed, supported and heard. Along with services and resources we plan to have fun too! We will join the school and community in activities as well as plan our own fun and special events.
